I still need to put the sink in (just a metal dog dish...and I don't trust my skills to make the hole, so Brandon will be doing that). And then I may paint the rest of it...or just leave it. I am also going to get a skinny cabinet and paint it white to use as a fridge, but I haven't gotten it yet. I was going back and forth on getting it at lowes so I decided to wait, and now I am sure I want to do it. I'll post pics of the finished product when it's all done...hopefully by the weekend!

That is a very cool idea. If I may ask, what was your reasoning for making it from scratch, was it inexpensive, or because you wanted to be creative and do you own thing?
Well I didn't like the plastic ones...just not really my taste I guess, and a lot of the wooden ones I saw were just a little more girly than I wanted, or not really the size I was looking for. And the ones I liked were just over my price range. And I really do like making things so it was fun for me.
Oh and the other thing...I saw a few I did like in my price range but they were just not very sturdy looking, and I do home daycare so I needed something I knew would hold up :)
Nice, thanks for the reply! I just wondered because I haven't priced either, but it is a very cool idea so I was wondering what the benefits were. I am also a very crafty person and it looks like I neat idea, I just thought cabinetry stuff can sometimes be expensive, but like you said it's worth it if it's more sturdy then the store bought ones. I'll have to look into it next time I am in Lowe's or Home Depot. Thanks!
The unfinished cabinets at lowes were $50, but if you keep looking they will often have clearance ones that are just a little banged up. I found this one for pretty cheap and there is nothing wrong I can see :)
You can also call around too find old cabinets from remodels...and that would be next to nothing!
I actually told Mike I wanted to make a kitchen for Nolan and he suggested using real cabinets. I'd forgotten you did this!! We won't be giving it to him until Christmas time probably, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled in case I see a good deal for cabinets on Craigslist. Did you ever find a cabinet to do a fridge?
